October 2015 e-Newsletter

Hello Friends,
It was ten years ago that I began my ministry training and service with the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, traveling all over the world to their homelands and communities. We began with a trip to Dharamsala, India for a visitation with his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the with the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa and Natural Oracle.

Ten years later, I will be attending the Parliament of World Religions in Salt Lake City, UT from October 15 – 19 – once again, as part of my ministry studies. I will be studying with the Dalai Lama and several of my other heroines: Dr. Jane Goodall, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Marianne Williamson and with Chief Arvol Lookinghorse and so many more Nobel Peace Laureates, religious leaders, global thinkers and interfaith activists who are saying yes to reclaiming the heart of our humanity. They will bring global wisdom and practice to critical issues:

  • climate change and care for creation
  • income inequality and wasteful consumption
  • war, violence and hate speech
  • immigration and human rights
  • dignity of women, children and oppressed people.

It will be an inspiring week and I look forward to sharing more about it when I return.

We are continuing with Meditation & Breathing classes on Thursday from 12 – 1 pm with Q&A to follow. This class has been an amazing, wonderful and deep journey for many – a life-changing journey for several participants.  With these new tools and our shared experiences we are learning how to manage stress and anxiety, expressing much greater kindness, compassion, curiosity and mindfulness. These acquired skills are applicable throughout our everyday lives and in all our relationships; most importantly within ourselves. This meditative practice is for those who have an ongoing practice or for those who are just beginning.

I am so very committed to sharing Mindfulness Meditation with our community youth, that in October, will begin classes at the Boys & Girls Club of Sturgeon Bay. I truly would like to get a program like this started in all of the local school systems to help children and teens with self-regulation, being mindful and kind to each other, as well as  themselves and learning new skills in stress reduction. If you have a similar passion, please let me know and together we can make this happen.

The office will remain open while I am away in Salt Lake City. Georgia Hilbert, our new massage and Laser therapist will be seeing patients. Julia will be able to help you with your needs.

I hope you all have a wonderful October,

Bright Blessings,
Dr, Melissa
